It was Immanuel Kant who once said that, Men are creatures of senses, understanding and reason.
In this day and time we see an exponential explosion of information, from social media, television, print media and even billboards and yes, from other sources. The said raw information or data is actually shaped by the filter or analytical mind that we have. As I am writing this aboard a moving van bound to Tacloban from Abuyog, I saw several billboards, a few Building Permits Posting on a Tarpaulin, Project descriptions, Names of stores and others. Words combined with numbers, colors that mean one thing, and colors that encourages like green colored posters, words like Fresh or symbols that give signs or command, the list are endless.
We see raw data , symbols and suggestive nomenclature or pictures that creates our perception.
In recent times we hear and read words like Deep fakes, Fake News and Ai Generated Images and prose.
For a student of Philosophy these are real Kantian ideas.
And Kants wants to remind us that all these signs, symbols and words will mean nothing, unless we make sense of the data.
We are or our minds interpret the concept, we make sense of the knowledge.
And Artificial Intelligence ha s the making, the capacity to interpret and write words that can mean so much. Still, it is you, us who make sense of it all.
Lastly, we can be manipulated by symbols of suggestions, of encouragement but still it is up to Man, to us, to do, to feel and to reason.
We are after all, creatures of senses and team we are creatures of reasons.
