Imagine, being in the Bagumbayan waiting for Jose Rizal, even when it was the last scene for him, imagine now Firing Squad for Corrupt Officials.

As prices of common goods, foods, electric and power rises in historic high people are attributing anything and everything to corruption. Gas Prices are steadily rising to almost a hundred pesos for gasoline on a per liter scale and nearly a hundred and ten for diesel, the smiles came rare for the usually bubbly van drivers I talk to every commute day.

All these are a daily occurrence and quite frankly it had not been changing a bit. And yet. We law abiding citizen is becoming angry and at time hopeless.

A bill has been filed that aims to impose the death penalty by firing squad on government officials convicted of corruption and related crimes.

House Bill No. 11211, introduced by Zamboanga City Representative Khymer Adan Olaso, seeks to address corruption, which continues to be a major obstacle to the Philippines’ growth. Olaso believes that despite the existence of many laws against corruption, they are not sufficient to prevent these crimes.

A d by any stretch this is the most brazen against the wide and deeply seated corruption in the Philippines .

The bill targets government officials, from the President to the lowest local officials, who are convicted of crimes such as graft and corruption, misusing public funds, and stealing large sums of money. It emphasizes the importance of accountability, stating that breaching the public’s trust should result in the harshest punishment. The death penalty would apply to officials convicted by the Sandiganbayan, the court that handles corruption cases.

And yet again , these does not somehow hit traction, it’s not a popular topic , not at all.
The bill also ensures fairness before the death penalty is carried out. The death sentence would only be enforced if the Supreme Court confirms the conviction, and the case undergoes the required review process. Additionally, the convicted individual must have exhausted all legal options available to them, such as appeals and reconsiderations.

I pray these too. Shall hurdle its opposition and yes, I am praying death to corrupt people and its not just Kara David who is?
