NAVAL, Biliran– House Speaker and Leyte Rep. Martin Romualdez led in the launching of the ‘Bagong Pilipinas’ in Eastern Visayas on Saturday (August 26), this town.

During the launching of the Bagong Pilipinas, the governance brand of the administration of Pres. Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos, Jr. he first mentioned during his second State of the Nation Address(Sona) July of this year, several government agencies provided services and financial assistance to more than 26,000 people of the province.

Romualdez, cousin of the President, said that the holding of the Bagong Pilipinas caravan in the province is an indication that the Marcos administration care its people by providing fast services.

“Sa Bagong Pilipinas serbisyo fair, nais namin na maging tulay upang mas mabilis ninyong makuha ang mga serbisyong Kailangan ng inyong mga pamilya…at handa kaming maghatid ng ayuda, impormasyon, at gabay sa lahat ng inyong pangangailan mula sa kalusugan, edukasyon, hangga sa hanapbuhay,” the Speaker said during his speech of the two-day event held at the gymnasium of the Biliran Province State University.

About 33 government agencies joined the caravan which include the departments of health, agriculture, agrarian reform, social welfare, trade and industry, labor, and education, among others, joined the event which is to end Sunday (August 27).

Documents such as driver’s license and birth certificates as well as health and medical services were also provided during the caravan.

At least P80 million were distributed to the beneficiaries of various government agencies were released during the caravan which include financial assistance to seniors and students, farmers and fisher folk, and payout under the cash-for-work programs of the government.

Romualdez also said that Biliran, composed of eight towns of more than 179,000 people, was chosen as the venue of the holding of Bagong Pilipinas is also due to massive support received by Marcos when he ran for the presidency in 2022.

Both Governor Gerard Roger Espina and his uncle, Rep. Gerardo ‘Gerryboy’ Espina expressed their gratitude to Pres. Marcos and his cousin, Speaker Romualdez for choosing the5r province.

“This is the biggest gathering of different government agencies in the history of the province,” he said.

Also present during the event were Rep. Jude Acidre of Tingog party-list, Health Sec.Teodoro Herbosa, and Prospero de Vera III, chairman of the Commission on Higher Education.
