CATARMAN, Northern Samar — More than 160 students from schools across Northern Samar took part in a provincial career development program designed to help young people make informed choices about their education and future employment.
The Northern Samar Public Employment Services Office (NSPESO) organized the “Tahak” Grand Career Day at the provincial Capitol, bringing together students, school heads and guidance counselors for career development sessions and discussions on employment opportunities.
Held under the theme “Tungo sa Angkop na Hanapbuhay at Angking Kinabukasan” (Towards Suitable Employment and a Promising Future), the event provided participants with information on career options, skills development and opportunities available through industry and government partners.
Resource speakers included Judge Albert Yruma, presiding judge of the Municipal Circuit Trial Court of Pambujan; writer Maris Cay Gabones; and multidisciplinary artist Ja Turla. They shared their professional experiences and offered advice to students as they consider their career paths.
Northern Samar Gov. Harris Ongchuan, in a message delivered by Vice Gov. Clarence Dato, reminded the students that uncertainty about career choices and discovering their strengths are normal parts of growing up.
NSPESO department head Rose Anne Suan said the activity was organized to give students reliable information that could help them make confident and informed decisions about their future careers.
The event was also attended by Board Member Emil Nicholas Ongchuan II, Schools Division Superintendent Gaudencio Aljibe, Laarni Mantilla, president of the Eastern Visayas Information, News and Government Communicators Association (EVINGCA) Northern Samar Chapter, and Provincial Youth Development Officer Anne Kirsten Tobes.
The provincial government said the “Tahak” initiative supports its efforts to develop a workforce that is informed, skilled, adaptable and prepared for the changing demands of the labor market.
