Leading digital solutions platform Globe is directing its efforts to areas in Visayas and Mindanao where SIM registration rates are low as it continues to urge customers across the country to register their SIMs before the July deadline.

Darius Delgado, Head of Globe’s Consumer Mobile Business, said the company already actively partners with a number of LGUs to deploy and expand assisted registration sites.
“We have seen the lowest number of SIM registrations in Visayas and Mindanao, especially in rural areas. Our efforts to educate and encourage people to register are ongoing, and we are working with LGUs to make the process more accessible for those who need assistance,” he said.

Globe also called on the government to support telcos to increase the number of registered users in underserved communities.

“We need government support to roll out infrastructure that can be leased by telcos in missionary areas such as the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), Marawi, and other regions where telcos have a weak presence. Local government units are also critical in pushing for the registration of their constituents,” Globe’s General Counsel Froilan Castelo said.

Castelo said LGUs may provide access to SIM registration venues, on-site registration assistance, and training for local agents who can help facilitate the process. They can also expedite the provisioning of IDs for those who do not have government IDs, a vital requirement for registration.

Castelo added that complementing Globe’s information campaign through LGU support and assistance may significantly increase the number of registered users within the timeframe.
“Ultimately, the private sector and the government can collaborate to fast-track SIM registration in underserved communities,” he concluded.

Globe remains committed to providing Filipinos with reliable and accessible telecom services and ensuring that customers can enjoy the full benefits of their mobile phones. With support from the LGUs and national government, Globe is confident that more people in Visayas and Mindanao will be able to comply with the government mandate.

To register, Globe Prepaid, TM and Globe At Home Prepaid WiFi customers may use the GlobeOne app and Globe’s SIM registration microsite https://new.globe.com.ph/simreg, which are available 24/7.

Those who have a fully-verified GCash account may also register via the GCash app in just a few clicks. They just have to follow instructions after receiving a prompt to register their SIMs. Those who use the app to register will get 1GB of free data.

Postpaid and Platinum subscribers are already included in the SIM registration database.
Globe’s 144 Stores and 27 EasyHubs across the country are also open to help customers who need help. The company has also rolled out over 1,000 SIM registration assistance booths since registration started.(PR)
