TACLOBAN CITY — Residents of geographically isolated and disadvantaged communities in Samar’s First District received government services through a multi-agency Serbisyo Caravan supported by the 14th Infantry Battalion from June 4 to 8.

The caravan was conducted in Barangay Casandig in Gandara on June 4 and in the villages of Himalandrog, Olera, Pinamurotan, Mabini I, and Calucnayan in Calbayog City from June 4 to 8.

The beneficiary communities are among the areas covered by the Retooled Community Support Program (RCSP), a government initiative aimed at addressing local development concerns while strengthening governance, peace, and security in underserved areas.

The activity was spearheaded by the respective chairpersons of the Local Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (LTF-ELCAC), Calbayog City Mayor Raymund Uy and Gandara Mayor Warren Aguilar, in partnership with various national government agencies, local government units, and other stakeholders.

The 14th Infantry Battalion provided security assistance in coordination with the Philippine National Police to ensure the safe and orderly conduct of the caravan. Soldiers also offered free haircut services to residents, benefiting children, youth, and other community members.

The Serbisyo Caravan brought essential government services directly to residents in remote villages and served as a venue for government agencies to engage with communities and address their priority needs.

Officials said the initiative reflects the government’s continuing efforts to bring development programs and basic services closer to geographically isolated communities while sustaining peace and stability in the countryside.

The 14th IB reaffirmed its commitment to supporting RCSP initiatives aimed at strengthening community resilience, improving government presence, and promoting lasting peace and development across Samar.
