TACLOBAN CITY — Community members and supporters of San Jose National High School (SJNHS) took part in a 3-kilometer charity fun run on Saturday, Oct. 10, to raise funds for the additional surgical expenses and medicines of two students affected by a recent incident at the school.

Dubbed “Run for Joan and Nathan,” the activity brought together members of the SJNHS community, partner organizations and other stakeholders in a collective effort to help the students and their families cope with mounting medical expenses.

The office of Tacloban City Councilor Marty Romualdez joined the initiative, extending support to the fundraising activity aimed at helping the two students continue receiving the medical care they need.

Organizers said the charity run was more than a fitness activity, providing an opportunity for the community to demonstrate solidarity and offer practical assistance to the students during their recovery.

Proceeds from the event will help cover additional medical costs, particularly expenses for surgery and medicines, easing some of the financial burden on the students’ families.
The SJNHS administration expressed its gratitude to the participants, sponsors, partner groups and individuals who contributed to the activity’s success.

The initiative highlighted the role of community cooperation in supporting students and their families in times of crisis, particularly when unexpected medical expenses add to the challenges of recovery.

Through the charity run, organizers and participants reaffirmed their commitment to helping Joan and Nathan as they continue their recovery.
