TACLOBAN CITY– The peace and order council of the region conducted its third quarterly meeting at the Batasang Pambansa on Tuesday (August 15) with House Speaker and Leyte Rep. Martin Romualdez in attendance.

During the meeting, Tacloban City Mayor and chair of the Regional Peace and Order Council Alfred Romualdez shared his observations on areas in Samar affected by the insurgency.
Among the issues discussed during the meeting were the peace and order situation of the region and the target for the support to the barangay development program.

Speaker Romualdez said that there is a really a need to address issues that contribute to the insurgency problem and for it to finally come to its end.

Among those who attended the meeting were Eastern Samar Governor Ben Evardone, Maj. Gen. Camilo Ligayo, the commanding general of the 8th Infantry Division (8ID); B/Gen. Vincent Calanoga, police regional director, among others.
