Raymund Vincent Romualdez, who ran unopposed, got 112 votes among the 133 barangay chairmen who were present during the elections held on Friday (Dec.15).
The city has 138 barangay chairmen.

Romualdez, 36, succeeded Eden Chua Pineda, who chose not to seek reelection as ABC president who held the post for more than 20 years now.

The young Romualdez, nephew of President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr., will sit as an ex-officio member of the city council as ABC president.

During the May 9, 2022 elections, Romualdez ran but lost as vice mayor to Edwin Chua, elder brother of Pineda.

And during the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections held last October 30 of this year, Romualdez ran and won as chairman of Barangay 88 in San Jose district.
In a brief interview, Romualdez said that he was happy to have the confidence of the majority of the barangay chairmen in the city.

Among his agenda as ABC president, Romualdez said that he would give priority projects of the barangays.

“I will make sure to make a difference,” he quipped when asked how he would perform as ABC president of the city.

Meanwhile, Pineda asked her colleagues to give Romualdez the chance to prove his worth.
“I reached out to him and I hope they (barangay chairmen) will also give him a chance,” she said in a media interview.

Also elected were the entire slate of Romualdez for the ABC board-Ma. Nilda Brazil (Brgy. 36), Mirben Basilio, Jr. (Brgy. 15), Rosalie Emphasis (Brgy. 5-A), Cyrill Malinao (Brgy. 54), Milagros Baoy(Brgy. 60), Analiza Siguan (Brgy. 36-A), Catherine Lou Superable (Brgy. 27) and Lucille Macato (Brgy. 87).
