TACLOBAN CITY — Police Colonel Orlando Gardiola Jr. has assumed leadership of the Eastern Samar Police Provincial Office (ESPPO), pledging to strengthen discipline, integrity and professionalism among police personnel while working closely with communities to maintain peace and security in the province.
Gardiola formally assumed his post as officer-in-charge (OIC) provincial director during a turnover of command ceremony at Camp Francisco Asidillo in Barangay Alang-Alang, Borongan City on August 28.
He replaced Police Colonel Ernesto Macasil, who was reassigned after serving as ESPPO provincial director.
In his message, Gardiola said he was grateful for the opportunity to return to Eastern Samar after eight years and serve the province once again.
“Let us perform our duties with discipline, integrity, and professionalism, and respect for people,” Gardiola told police personnel and guests during the ceremony.
He reminded police officers to remain firm when necessary while recognizing their responsibility as public servants.
“Behind the uniform is a public servant, and behind every police action are people and communities who depend on us,” he said.
Gardiola said maintaining peace and security is a shared responsibility requiring close cooperation among the police, local government units (LGUs), other government agencies, community leaders, the private sector and residents.
He assured the public that the ESPPO would work closely with local officials and communities to help make Eastern Samar safer, more peaceful and conducive to development.
Eastern Samar Gov. Ralph Vincent Evardone assured the ESPPO and local police units of the continued support of the provincial government and LGUs.
Evardone called for sustained cooperation and preparedness among law enforcement agencies to maintain peace and security throughout the province.
He also emphasized the need for close coordination between the police and local governments to prevent potential threats and respond effectively to emergencies and other security concerns.
The governor also recognized the service of Police Colonel Ernesto Macasil, who was reassigned after serving as ESPPO provincial director.
