NSSDEO, Brgy. Burabud, Laoang, N. Samar– The Department of Public Works and Highways-Northern Samar Second District Engineering Office (DPWH-NSSDEO) constructed a flood control structure and drainage system in the Palapag River Basin that now protects residents in the Municipality of Palapag during heavy rains.

The Palapag River Basin, Palapag, Northern Samar, structural concrete revetment on steel sheet flood control structure, measuring 270 lineal meters, was finished on March 15, 2023.

The General Appropriations Act (GAA) of 2022 provided funding for this flood mitigation structure through the DPWH’s Flood Management Program.

The contract ID for the aforementioned project is 22II0020. Additionally, JUPA Construction was responsible for providing workers and equipment for the implementation of the plan, with an amended contract amount of P 48,748,724.40.

To secure the proper implementation of project materials, consistent supervision was done by Engr. Analyn A. Mananguete, together with Resident Engineer/Project Inspector Geric C. Yu with Engr. Eliseo Allado as Materials Engineer in charge.

This flood control structure in the Palapag River Basin now ensures to protect lives and homes in Palapag to be flood free.
