DOLE Undersecretary Felipe N. Egargo, Jr., extended the department’s support during the launching of the Spark Adventure Project of the Provincial Government of Samar on April 16, 2024 held in Brgy. Binongtu-an, Basey, Samar.

TACLOBAN CITY – Seven people’s organizations (POs) from Basey town in Samar received financial grants from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

Each of the POs received P50,000 of this financial assistance from DOLE.

“DOLE remains your strong partner in economic development and we express our continued commitment to the provision of the necessary interventions not only for the people of Samar but for the whole of Eastern Visayas,” DOLE Usec. Felipe Egargo said.
“We are thankful that this financial grant will not only help the members of these associations but will also compliment the effort of the province to boost its tourism program,” he added.

Recipients of the financial grants are organizations from Basey who are engaging in tourism-related activities.

These are Barangay Magallanes Kayaking Workers Association, Brgy. Binongtuan Multisectoral Tourism Workers Association, Rawis Balantac Tourism Services Association, Brgy. Del Pilar Lagkaw Tourism Workers Association, Brgy. Burgos Multisectoral Eco-Tourism Association, Bungangsakit Tourism Workers Association, and Basey Association for Native Industry Growth.

Egargo expressed his gratitude to local government units and government agencies that are their partners in implementing programs whose goal is to help and promote the welfare of the workers.
