ORMOC CITY– About 57 persons were charged for violation of the liquor ban of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Sunday (Oct.29), here in the city.

The first arrest was made at about 2:05 am at Pier Capitan Resto Bar and Grill, along Brgy. District 12, this city resulted in the arrest of 44 individuals.

The second arrest was made at about 2:30 am at the Diversion Road, in Brgy. Biliboy, this city, resulted in the arrest of 13 other violators.

Case investigator Police Corporal Francis Quiloña II said that the arrested persons were nabbed for drinking in a public place as the liquor ban took effect on Sunday relative to today’s barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections.

He said that all violators were immediately brought to Police Station 1 for proper documentation and proper disposition. The violators were charged with violation of Comelec Resolution No. 10746 (liquor ban) at the City Prosecutors Office and were granted P10,000 bail for temporary liberty.
