ORMOC CITY– A woman was apprehended by the local police after the court issued a warrant for her arrest in Barangay Ibarra, Maasin City.
Maasin City police chief, Lt. Col. Jason Balbarona identified the accused as Maria Calonia, 50, married, jobless a resident of Brgy Maria Clara here who was arrested on Thursday(June 6) at about 11 am.
The accused was arrested by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Carlos Arguelles, acting presiding judge of Branch 24, Maasin City dated June 6, 2024, for the crime of cyber Libel under Art 353 and 355 of Revised Penal Code as amended.
The accused posted a bail of P30,000 for her temporary liberty.
Cyber libel is the act of spreading false information about another person, group, or organization through a computer network. (ROBERT DEJON)
