TACLOBAN CITY — Tingog party-list Rep. Jude Acidre welcomed the approval of the largest education budget in Philippine history under the proposed 2026 national budget, calling it a strong signal that education remains a top government priority.
In a statement on January 6, Acidre thanked Congress and President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. for approving over P1 trillion in funding for the education sector, describing it as a major investment in the country’s future.
“This is not just a budget milestone but a clear statement of national priority,” Acidre said, noting that the allocation will support classrooms, training centers, laboratories, and learning communities nationwide.
As chairperson of the House Committee on Higher and Technical Education, Acidre said the funding opens opportunities to improve access and quality in higher education and technical-vocational training, modernize institutions, and better prepare graduates for a changing economy.
He added that the measure reflects cooperation between the Executive and Legislative branches and vowed that Tingog party-list will ensure transparent and effective use of the funds.
“This is a win for students, teachers, and families, and a step toward a more inclusive and skilled Philippines,” Acidre said.
