ORMOC CITY— A Swiss national sustained minor injuries after the sports utility vehicle (SUV) he was driving lost control and rammed a parked Philippine National Police (PNP) patrol car in Barangay Cambalading, Albuera,Leyte on the afternoon of December 27, police said.

The incident occurred at around 1:03 p.m. and involved a white Toyota Hilux patrol vehicle of the 1st Leyte Provincial Mobile Force Company (LPMFC) and a gray Ford Ranger pickup (plate number HAG 6785).

Police identified the SUV driver as alias “Marco,” 66, married, a retired government employee and Swiss national, who is currently residing in Sitio Gungab, Barangay Poblacion, Albuera. The Ford Ranger is owned by alias “Mae,” a resident of Ormoc City.

Albuera Officer-in-Charge and Chief of Police PCpt Jose Bayona said initial investigation showed that the Ford Ranger was traveling from Ormoc City toward Albuera when the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle upon reaching the area. The SUV swerved off the road and struck the rear portion of the parked patrol car.

The impact pushed the police vehicle into a nearby concrete fence, damaging both the patrol car and the fence. The SUV driver sustained minor scratches, while both vehicles incurred undetermined damage.

Both vehicles remained at the scene following the incident. The driver was later brought to the Albuera Municipal Police Station for proper disposition as the investigation continued.
