Building cost at P29.1 million

TACLOBAN CITY – The Samar Police Provincial Office (SPPO) is to have its new office building situated in Barangay Pupua,Catbalogan City following a groundbreaking ceremony attended by officials from the province and the Philippine National Police in the region on Monday (April 8).

The building, situated on a 2-hectare lot donated by the provincial government under the leadership of Governor Sharee Ann Tan, is to be constructed at P29.1 million and funded through the General Appropriations Act of 2023.

The construction will be overseen by the Department of Public Works and Highways, Samar 2nd District Engineering Office.

Gov. Tan underscored the significance of providing law enforcement officers with a respectable workplace, citing its influence on fostering dignity and a positive work ethic.
“This facility represents our collective commitment to furnish our law enforcement officers with a modern and functional workspace to effectively carry out their vital duties,” she said during the groundbreaking ceremony.

“We are resolute in ending insurgency in the province. Whatever support is required, we are committed to providing it to our police and military forces, as it is integral to maintaining and perpetuating peace and order in the province,” she added.

Furthermore, Gov.Tan noted that the new location of SPPO offers ample space for all necessary facilities and amenities, accommodating additional support units and providing an adequate venue for trainings.

Presently, the SPPO camp is situated within the premises of the 8th Infantry Division in Brgy. Maulong also in Catbalogan.

The donation of the lot by the provincial government in Pupua village signifies the relocation of SPPO from its current site to the new location.

“This groundbreaking ceremony heralds the beginning of a new era for the Samar Police Provincial Office,” BGen Reynaldo Pawid, police regional director, said in his remarks.
“With this new standard building, we are bolstering our capacity to serve and protect the people of Samar with excellence and dedication,” he added.

PBGen Pawid also expressed gratitude towards the leadership and support of the governor in their anti-criminality campaign, noting significant improvements in the peace and order environment in the province.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the SPPO building in Pupua village on April 8 was attended by Samar 2nd District Representative Reynolds Michael Tan, and SPPO Provincial Director PCol Peter Uy Limbauan, among others.

The completion of the SPPO’s new building is targeted for December of this year.
