PALO, Leyte — The Police Regional Office 8 (PRO-8) honored outstanding police units, personnel, and community partners during the culmination of the 31st Police Community Relations (PCR) Month celebration on Friday, July 31, in recognition of their contributions to peacekeeping and community-oriented policing in Eastern Visayas.
The awarding ceremony, held at the PRO-8 Multi-Purpose Hall in Camp Ruperto Kangleon, highlighted the importance of collaboration between the Philippine National Police, government agencies, local government units, and private stakeholders in promoting public safety and community development.
Department of Education Regional Director Salustiano Jimenez, the guest of honor and speaker, underscored the value of strong partnerships among government institutions and communities in building safer and more resilient communities.
Among the awardees were the Leyte Police Provincial Office as Outstanding Police Community Affairs and Development (PCAD) Provincial/City Police Office and Tacloban City Police Station 3 as Outstanding PCAD Municipal/City Police Station.
Individual awards were also presented to police commissioned and non-commissioned officers, non-uniformed personnel, and community partners for their exemplary performance and support of police community relations programs.
Special citations were likewise conferred on government agencies, local government units, civic organizations, and other stakeholders, including the National Police Commission Region 8, the Office of Civil Defense Region 8, the Armed Forces of the Philippines, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources Region 8, and several local government units for their continued partnership with the police.
PRO-8 said the annual observance of Police Community Relations Month aims to strengthen public trust in the Philippine National Police by recognizing exemplary service and fostering stronger partnerships that contribute to peace, order, and public safety across the region.
