TACLOBAN CITY – Eastern Visayas is sure to have additional soldiers with the 560 applicants took their oath during the opening ceremony of the Army candidate soldier course for this year on Monday(May 29).

The soldier wannabes took their oath before Major General Camilo Ligayo, the commanding general of the 8th Infantry Division.

Of the 562 candidates who comes from different parts of the region, 48 of them were women.

The candidates will undergo training at the 8ID Jungle Base, Camp Eugenio Daza, Barangay Fatima, Hinabangan, Samar.

“Your training will never be easy, we’ve been there but just like us all the hardship and sacrifices will be worthwhile once it is done but for now keep this in mind your next journey will be different from what you imagine it will be more difficult and eventually will be better than you imagine,” Ligayo said in his message during the reception rite held at Camp General Vicente Lukban in Catbalogan City.

“This institution will prepare you for the demand of our job. It is better to exert a lot of time effort and hard work to prepare for something rather than to pay for a greater price later on. This institution will equip you with the necessary skills and knowledge to prepare you for something bigger than this training,” he added.
