TACLOBAN CITY – About 3,796 college students from different parts of Samar received financial assistance from the Provincial Social Welfare Office.

Of the P30 million fund released for this student aid program, P27 million was sourced from the district offices of Reps. Stephen James Tan and Reynolds Michael Tan while the remaining P3 million was from Governor Sharee Ann Tan.

Each of the students received P3,000 for their educational assistance.
Recipients are college students who are residents of Samar and studying in universities and colleges even outside the province.

At least 1,718 students who received the assistance were from the towns of Tarangnan, San Jorge, Gandara, Matuguinao, and Pagsanghan.

Also, 702 students from the municipalities of Sta. Margarita, Tagapul-an, Almagro, Sto Nino, and Calbayog City received their P3,000 cash aid.

Meantime, 796 students from Sta. Rita, and 580 from Pinabacdao were also given their assistance.

At least 5,240 students from other towns and Catbalogan City who are part of the program are also set to receive their P3,000 cash assistance.

Those who failed to claim the educational assistance during the pay-out may still claim them but from the DSWD satellite offices in the cities of Calbayog and Catbalogan.
