TACLOBAN CITY – The Ormoc city government on Friday, October 3, formally broke ground for the construction of the Ormoc City Hospital in Barangay Sumangga, a project envisioned to provide modern health services and a healing environment for residents.

The two-storey facility will feature a comprehensive range of services and departments, including administrative and frontline offices, an emergency room, outpatient department, pharmacy, laboratory, radiology, nursing wards, operating rooms, an Intensive Care Unit (ICU), delivery and nursery complex, nutrition unit, engineering section, and laundry area.

Mayor Lucy Torres Gomez described the project as a product of “patience and perfect timing,” noting that the hospital is not just about treatment but also about offering comfort and dignity to patients. “We envision Ormoc to be a beautiful place where people will heal,” she said.

Alongside Mayor Gomez, Leyte 4th District Representative Richard Gomez and the members of the 17th Sangguniang Panlungsod also signed the site development plan before joining the ceremonial groundbreaking rites.

City officials said the milestone signals the start of construction and reflects Ormoc’s broader vision of progress and improved public health care access.
