TACLOBAN CITY – The provincial government of Northern Samar, through its Provincial Agriculture Office (PAO), has distributed farm inputs to 27 farmers’ associations and community organizations across the province to help strengthen agricultural productivity and food security.

The assistance package included vegetable seeds, farm tools, mallard ducks, and Rhode Island Red (RIR) chickens—interventions designed to enhance local food production, diversify livelihoods, and promote sustainable farming practices in rural communities.
Among the beneficiaries were farmers’ cooperatives, women’s associations, schools, and livelihood organizations such as the Somoroy Women’s Association, Northern Samar Farmer Entrepreneurs Association (NSFEA), ANI Livelihood Association, and the Northern Samar Indigenous Handicraft Coco Coir Producers Association (NSIHCCPA).

Educational institutions and community gardens, including those in Catarman, Las Navas, and San Roque, also received inputs to support school-based and community-led farming projects.

The PAO emphasized that providing poultry inputs not only creates sustainable income opportunities but also contributes to household nutrition.

Under the leadership of Governor Harris Ongchuan, the provincial government is pursuing programs that equip farmers with resources and knowledge aimed at making Northern Samar a food-secure, self-sustaining, and resilient province.
