ORMOC CITY – Police operatives arrested a 29-year-old civil engineer who is ranked No. 8 on the provincial list of most wanted persons for alleged rape during an operation in Barangay Libertad here on Wednesday night, September 10.
Police Station 1 chief PCPT Rodolfo Mercolita identified the suspect as alias “Ejiel,” a married resident of Barangay Labrador, Ormoc City.
The arrest stemmed from a warrant issued by Judge Mario Olmida Quinit, presiding judge of the 8th Judicial Region, Branch 12, Ormoc City, for rape by sexual assault under Article 266-A (2) of the Revised Penal Code as amended. The court recommended a P200,000 bail for the suspect’s temporary liberty.
Police said the accused was informed of the nature of his arrest and apprised of his constitutional rights in a language he understood. He was brought to Police Station 1 for booking and proper disposition before being presented to the court that issued the warrant.
