TACLOBAN CITY- Members of the Leyte Dance Theater (LDT) gave their splendid performances during a dance concert held at the Tacloban City Convention Center last night (Feb.24).
The performance of the LDT, titled as “Salida: Simbolo at Kultura” is online of this month’s national arts celebration.
The Friday night performance of the 60-strong LDT was their first after their triumphant performance last month at the International Dance Festival held in Hyderabad, India.
The India performance was sponsored by Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts.
The LDT gave a very splendid performance during the two-hour show. The packed crowd could only expressed their great admiration to the group as they performed some of the country’s traditional dances like the Singkil and Sarimanok, both Muslim dances showing colorful costumes and intricate but pleasing movements.
According to its artistic director and choreographer Jess de Paz, the proceeds of their show will go to their scholarship funds.
LDT has produced top-notched choreographers which has formed groups in Eastern Visayas and across the country.
One of its noted graduates is Douglas Nierras of the Power dance.
