ORMOC CITY-Operatives of the Philippine Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) and the Regional Unit of Highway Patrol Group apprehended the alleged leader of a carnapping group operating in Zambales along with his cohort at about 7:40 am on Monday (March 18) in Barangay Yapad, Pastrana, Leyte.

Police identified the accused as Serge John Ramos, 22, and Michael Smith Abolencia, the alleged Leader of Abolencia Group, 40.

Both are presently residing at Brgy. Yapad.

The arrest of the two was made by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Edwin Chu Torres, presiding judge of the Regional Trial Court-Branch 73, Olongapo City, Zambales dated March 12, 2024 for violation of RA 10883 (New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016).

The court, however, recommended a bail bond of P200,000 for their temporary liberty.

The two accused were immediately brought to the Pastrana municipal police station for documentation and proper disposition before turning over to their counterparts in Zambales.
