The candidate from Eastern Samar, Airissh Ramos, bagged the best in national costume of the Miss Universe Philippines competition held in the city last May 4.

TACLOBAN CITY– The candidate from Eastern Samar in this year’s Miss Universe Philippines was the runaway winner for the best in the national costume competition, besting 37 other candidates.

Ramos secured the top spot with her “An Bulawanon nga Katbari ha Sinirangan” (The golden harvest season in the East)-inspired national costume designed by John Hubert Capito.

Benguet’s Joeymay Leo and Southern Leyte’s Kimberly Escartin claimed the second and third spots, respectively.

Aside from winning the national costume competition, Tingog ng Filipina for Visayas was also awarded to the Arteche town native “for exemplifying the beauty, values, and smarts that a modern and empowered Filipina must possess in order to inspire others.”

She was joined by Baguio’s Krishnah Marie Gravidez for Luzon and Agusan del Norte’s Jannarie Zarzoso for Mindanao.

Ralph Adrian Ramos, manager/brother, said that they are proud for this is the first time that Eastern Samar won the national costume competition in a national pageant.

“Airissh is grateful for the support that you guys have been giving her. She really wants to meet all of you to thank you guys personally, when time permits. Also, you guys saw that we have the fight to win, so continue supporting her and shower her with love as she paddles through the tides of her Miss Universe Philippines journey,” he said.

The Miss Universe national costume competition was held in Leyte Normal University, Tacloban City last May 4, 2023.
