CATARMAN, Northern Samar– The Department of Public Works and Highways Northern Samar First Engineering District has completed two (2) road improvement projects costing P 35.909 million on two road sections leading to Catarman Airport.

The district office allotted P21.215-million for the preventive maintenance of the road/asphalt overlay along the secondary Rd K0743+(-625)-K0743+235. Works include asphalt overlay of 50mm thick, 2-lane asphalt pavement; installation of internally illuminated (solar) pavement levelled marker/stud (flush type) and provision of reflectorized thermoplastic marking.

Another P14.694-million was allotted for the rehabilitation/reconstruction/upgrading of damaged paved roads with a total length of 165 meters. The project involves the construction of drainage, installation of internally illuminated (solar) pavement levelled marker/stud (flush type) and provision of reflectorized thermoplastic marking.
This improvement will provide an accessible and safer travel experience for motorists especially during night time.

“The district office will continue to implement road asset preservation and rehabilitation projects to facilitate better access to public facilities and provide better transportation network within the first district of Northern Samar,” said District Engineer Mario D. Villena.
Both projects are funded under the General Appropriations Act (GAA) of 2023.
