BORONGAN CITY-The Department of Public Works and Highways – Eastern Samar District Engineering Office (DPWH-ESDEO) celebrated the 2023 National Women’s month at the ESDEO Function Hall Wednesday (March 8).

Ma. Erlinda Evardone, the focal person alternate for Gender and Development (GAD) of the district, said that this year’s theme talks about women empowerment which can only be achieved when agencies, mechanisms, institutions, private partners, duty-bearers from the national to the local level provide women equal rights and opportunities.

Assistant District Engineer Domcelio M. Natividad said in his message that the achievements of women nowadays are already widely recognized internationally, showing their undeniable inclusivity to the society.

“Over the years, Eastern Samar DEO have always been supportive in promoting women empowerment. We even have an impressive lady District Engineer here,” said ADE Natividad.

ADE Natividad then encouraged all the employees of ESDEO to celebrate gender equality, not just during this month of the year, but every day on every chance that they get.
Video presentations on gender equality and women empowerment were then shown to further inspire women attain the ultimate goal of gender equality and inclusivity in the society.

A trivia game were also prepared by the facilitators which tested the knowledge of the ESDEO employees with regards to questions depicting the theme “WE for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society” for the 2023 National Women’s Month Celebration.
