TACLOBAN CITY – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Leyte 2nd District Engineering Office has completed a P7.8-million road improvement project in Sitio Tayud, Barangay Amahit, Barugo, Leyte, aimed at providing safer and more accessible routes for local residents.

The project involved the construction of a 200-mm thick Portland Cement Concrete Pavement (PCCP) covering 3,212.28 square meters. It also featured stone masonry works for added durability and reflectorized thermoplastic pavement markings to enhance visibility and road safety, especially at night.

District Engineer Leo Edward Oppura said the new road will significantly boost mobility, accessibility, and safety for residents in Sitio Tayud and nearby areas.

This newly completed road will ease transportation challenges and support economic and social activities within the barangay,” Oppura added.

Funded under the DPWH CY 2025 General Appropriations Act (GAA), the project was implemented by Kamari Construction & Supply and completed on May 21, 2025.

DPWH said the improvement of road networks in remote and underserved communities remains a priority, as better infrastructure directly supports economic growth and enhances the quality of life for residents.
