Brgy. Burabud, Laoang, Northern Samar – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) – Northern Samar 2nd District Engineering Office (DPWH NSSDEO) has successfully completed the construction of a new one-storey, two-classroom school building in Oleras Elementary School, Brgy. Oleras, Laoang, Northern Samar, on July 17, 2026, reinforcing the government’s commitment to providing safe, resilient, and learner-friendly educational facilities.

Constructed under the Department of Education Basic Educational Facilities Fund (DepEd BEFF) 2025, with Contract ID No. 25II0062, this project represents a significant investment in strengthening the learning environment for elementary learners and supporting the continued delivery of quality basic education in the community.

The newly completed facility consists of a one-storey, two-classroom school building measuring 7.0 meters × 18.0 meters, with an additional 2.5-meter-wide corridor. The project scope included earthworks; reinforced concrete works; masonry works; fabricated material works; finishing works; painting works; roof framing and roofing works; plumbing works; and electrical works. The project, with a contract amount of P4,956,748.60, was implemented by EFC Development Corporations.

More than just a new structure, the facility is expected to enhance the overall educational experience of learners by helping ease classroom congestion and providing a safer, more conducive learning environment for both students and teachers. The additional classrooms will help address the growing educational needs of Oleras Elementary School by providing adequate learning spaces, enhancing the teaching and learning environment, improving teaching effectiveness, and supporting better student performance.

The completion of this school building reflects the government’s continuing efforts to invest in public infrastructure that directly benefits communities and promotes inclusive, accessible, and quality education. Through the collaborative efforts of DPWH, Department of Education, and LGU, the project stands as a testament to the shared commitment of ensuring that every Filipino child has access to functional and durable learning facilities.
