ORMOC CITY– The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Leyte 4th District Engineering Office (DEO) successfully completes the repair and rehabilitation of the Bao Flood Control (Upstream) in Kananga, Leyte.

Spanning 363 linear meters, this project has a contract amount of P39,771,122.66 funded under the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund (NDRRMF) and aims to prevent overflow of the Bao River thereby safeguarding nearby agricultural lands and homes.

The newly rehabilitated flood control structure ensures better water flow management and reinforces the riverbanks. With this project completed, residents of Kananga can now feel more secure during heavy rains, knowing that their community is better protected against potential flooding. This also helps minimize economic losses by mitigating said disruptions.
