ORMOC CITY- A couple, both teachers, died in a road accident a day before the New Year’s celebration after the motorcycle they were on board was hit by a courier wing van.
Police in Macrohon town, Southern Leyte identified the fatalities as Melvin Pagangpang,42, and his wife, Jean, 41, both residents of Maasin City.

Based on the investigation conducted by responding police, the motorcycle where the couple was on board was traversing the road going to Maasin City when they were hit by the wing van.

After hitting the motorcycle of the couple, the wing van also hit a tricycle driven by Bobby Cobina that was temporarily parked beside the road, and the vehicle driven by Philip June Celerenos, 38, and his six-year-old daughter.

The three sustained injuries due to the road collision that occurred along a national highway in Barangay Ichon, Macrohon, at about 9:50 am on December 30.

The unnamed driver of the wing van is now detained at the Macrohon police detention facility and faces charges due to the road accident.
