TACLOBAN CITY – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) here in the region has been recognized by the poll body’s central office for successfully disposing of all its unserviceable government properties in compliance with revised government asset management rules.
The office received a certificate of commendation for its exemplary implementation of the Commission’s guidelines on the disposal of tangible government assets.
Comelec Chairman George Erwin Garcia formally presented the certificate to Regional Director Atty. Jose Nick Mendros during a ceremony at the Comelec central office in Intramuros, Manila.
The citation said Comelec Region VIII successfully disposed of all unserviceable properties throughout the region in accordance with Minute Resolution No. 25-0334, which sets the revised guidelines for the disposal of tangible assets.
The recognition also cited the regional office’s adherence to high standards of property accountability and administrative excellence, as well as its compliance with government regulations governing the proper management and disposal of public assets.
Comelec- 8 said the accomplishment was the result of the collective efforts of the Office of the Regional Election Director, the Provincial Election Directors and Election Officers across Eastern Visayas.
The disposal process involved months of planning, coordination and documentation by personnel in the region to ensure that the unserviceable properties were properly accounted for and disposed of in accordance with existing rules.
Officials said the commendation reflects the regional office’s commitment to transparency, accountability, good governance and responsible stewardship of government resources.
The certificate, dated July 20, 2026, formally recognizes Comelec-8 for completing the disposal of all its unserviceable properties and for its exemplary compliance with the Commission’s revised guidelines on tangible asset disposal.
