BOBON, Northern Samar – Mayor Reny Acero Celespara urged his constituents and other officials of this town to cooperate and extend their assistance to him to make Bobon not only a peaceful but a progressive municipality. Mayor Celespara made this call during the 151st founding anniversary of Bobon last August 4 which had a theme “Kamurayaw ug Pagkaurusa,Tangkod ug Makusog nga Liderato, Dalan San Progreso.”

The town mayor said in his message that he would continue to implement programs and projects that are geared towards Bobon’s development and at the same time, preserve its peace and order situation. Among the programs that he intends to continue are the following:” chain of love scholarship program benefiting around 500 deserving college students presently enrolled in different private colleges and universities in Northern Samar and different infrastructure projects. “while I m urging each and every employee and co-officials, our administration, on its part, will continue to do our share in heeding public call of our utmost public service and dedication towards a more peaceful and developed town,” the mayor said during his speech at the town’s founding anniversary. As part of the 5-day celebration which had its kicked-off last July 31, coinciding the Nutrition Month Celebration with many activities, the mayor himself led tree planting” activity in Sitio Inamburakay, San Isidro.

The celebration was highlighted with the month-long “Open Basketball Tournament” with P50,000.00 cash awarded to the champion, while a “ Blood Letting” was conducted on August 1. Many officials and LGU employees as well as from national agencies donated blood. On August 4, the founding date, an anniversary mass was concelebrated by Rev. Fr. Potenciano E. Dulay, Parish Priest, followed by an anniversary parade which was participated by all national and local agencies, guest, visitors with the PNP leading and the general public.

On the eve of August 4, was preceded by the colorful “Street Dancing “Competition, it was participated by 5 High School and 10 Elementary Schools that wowed the public. The BSPC and Bobon Central Elem. School were adjudged as 1st placers receiving P15,000.00 cash each, while the 2nd placer received P 10,000.00 and P 5,000.00 respectively and P2,000.00 for non-placers. “ Tuklas Talento sa Sayaw at Musika” chaired by SB Member Pelagio Casiñas,Jr., was also done. This was participated by a group of talented Bobonanon youths receiving also cash prizes and consolation.

Highlighting the eve’s affair is the cultural presentations, such as; Folk Dances performed by Asia College and Senior Citizens; the Hawaiian dance of The Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints; The LGU Fiesta sa Nayon presentation; Dance Sport, ETBMSF variety and BSPC –Cultural shows; at the same time Bobon Central School – Folk Dance together with the presentation of Interior & Carline District Schools and Barangay presentations.

Likewise, Mayor Jing as he is well-known to many, though busy of his scheduled regular village visits, attending inaugurations of projects, consultation of his key personnels/staff and department heads keeping him updates of project implementation and attending speaking engagements among others,.. he never failed to attain and entertain visitors coming to his office, and no one leaves empty-handed, says Municipal Administrator, Susana Carpina-Coloma.
