ORMOC CITY-The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Leyte 4th District Engineering Office completes the asphalt overlay along a section of the Palompon–Isabel–Merida–Ormoc Road, specifically between Brgy. Liloan and Brgy. Libertad in Ormoc City.
“Over the years, we’ve seen the road surface gradually worsen with cracks, potholes, and uneven sections affecting motorists. Through this project, these issues were addressed with an asphalt overlay covering a total of 5.296 lane kilometers,” explained OIC- District Engineer Peter Scheler V. Soco.
The project scope also included the application of reflectorized pavement markings on lane lines, pedestrian lanes, and rumble strips. Bicycle lanes were also incorporated along the outer lanes to promote safe active transport, in line with national guidelines under Department Order No. 263, series of 2022.
Funded under the General Appropriations Act of 2025, the project has a total cost of Php 89,694,598.25 and now provides a smoother, safer, and more durable pavement surface that enhances riding comfort while reducing travel time and vehicle maintenance costs.(PR)
