In line with the preparation of FY 2026 Proposed Infrastructure Priority Program, the Department of Public Works and Highways Northern Samar 2nd District Engineering Office, through its Planning and Design Section has recently conducted an evaluation and validation of identified proposed projects within the Second District of Northern Samar.
According to Engr. Joseph C. Romance, Chief of Planning and Design Section, he has instructed his technical personnel to evaluate all projects under the National Expenditure Program for CY 2026, including the damaged portion of unclassified road of Samar Pacific Coastal Road, particularly the Palapag-Simora Road section, for the purpose of its rehabilitation.
The rehabilitation aims to improve road conditions and ensure safer, more mobility to all road users. In addition, this road serves as alternate and strategic route that facilitates interconnectivity between the Pacific Towns of the Second district of Northern Samar and those of Eastern Samar, thus, supporting regional connectivity and promoting sustainable development.
The DPWH-NSSDEO expects that the proposed rehabilitation of the damaged portion will be funded in the following year, with a proposed appropriation of P100,000,000, to cover the target length of 3.6 kilometers.
