Volunteers from the offices of former Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez and Tingog Party-list distribute relief goods to families affected by the twin typhoons Tino and Uwan at the Samar National High School evacuation center in Catbalogan City. Around 3,000 residents received food packs and essential items as part of continuing humanitarian efforts in coordination with local officials.

TACLOBAN CITY — Around 3,000 residents of Catbalogan City who were severely affected by Typhoon ‘Uwan’ received immediate assistance from the office of Leyte First District Representative and former House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez and the Tingog Partylist.

Catbalogan City was among the areas that suffered the most extensive damage during the onslaught of Typhoon Uwan. Still recovering from the earlier impact of Typhoon ‘Tino,’ the city was again battered by strong winds and heavy rains, which destroyed numerous homes. Authorities confirmed the death of a 64-year-old woman from Barangay 3, Poblacion, during the height of the storm.

Most of the affected families live along the coastal area of Barangay 3, particularly in Purok 6, one of the hardest-hit sections of the city.

On November 10, 2025, the office of Former Speaker Romualdez and the Tingog Partylist delivered relief assistance to families affected by Typhoon Uwan in Catbalogan City, Samar.
The distributed aid included rice, noodles, sardines, biscuits, coffee, blankets, and pails.

The relief operation was held at Samar National High School, one of the city’s main evacuation centers, where evacuees from Barangay 3, Purok 6, Poblacion are temporarily sheltering.

The office of Former Speaker Romualdez and the Tingog Partylist continue to coordinate with local governments in Samar to extend support and relief to residents striving to recover from the devastation brought by Typhoon Uwan.
