ORMOC CITY– As a gesture of support for the men and women working on the frontlines of peace and security, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Leyte 4th District Engineering Office, led by OIC-District Engineer Peter Scheler V. Soco, turned over three sets of desktop computers to the 93rd Infantry (Bantay Kapayapaan) Battalion of the Philippine Army, 8th Infantry Division.
The battalion, based in Brgy. Aguiting, Kananga, Leyte, had written to the office to request assistance as they were facing a shortage of functional computers. With their day-to-day work involving a growing number of activities for peacekeeping, development, and community protection, the need for proper equipment had become more pressing.
Previously identified for disposal, the units were transferred without cost in accordance with government guidelines that allow the reallocation of unserviceable equipment to other agencies that can still benefit from them.
“This is our way of saying thank you to our soldiers,” said OIC-DE Soco. “We recognize their sacrifices and the important role they play in keeping our communities safe. If this small donation can ease even a bit of their workload, then it’s something worth doing.”
Each donated set includes a desktop unit, monitor, keyboard, and mouse that will help the division carry out their tasks more efficiently. (PR)
